NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – John Laing Homes today announced the promotion of two executives within its Southern California operations. Steve Kabel, a critical member of the company’s strategic planning group since 1999, will assume the role of Southern California Region President, and Dave Prolo, who started with John Laing Homes in 1993, has been promoted to President of the South Coast division overseeing all operations in Orange and San Diego Counties.

In his new role as Region President, Kabel will work directly with the division presidents in Southern California to oversee the strategic direction on land acquisition, product development, construction, purchasing, and customer service. The Southern California Region includes John Laing Homes’ Los Angeles/Ventura, Orange County, San Diego, Inland Empire, and Urban divisions.

Selected to fill Kabel’s former position as South Coast division president, Prolo’s responsibilities include the day-to-day management of land acquisition, product development and homebuilding operations in Orange and San Diego Counties. Prolo has been a part of the South Coast division team since 2003, and has been overseeing the San Diego division since late 2006, and his familiarity with both teams will be an advantage.

“Steve and Dave are proven leaders within our organization, and have consistently demonstrated the values and culture that define John Laing Homes – our unwavering commitment to our homebuyers and our team members,” said John Laing Homes CEO Larry Webb. “Providing our team members with new opportunities is one of the best parts of my job, and I can’t wait to see Steve and Dave’s ongoing contributions to the success of John Laing Homes.”

Both Steve Kabel and Dave Prolo have been significant contributors to John Laing Homes. Kabel lead John Laing’s South Coast division for five years and under his leadership the division has ranked number one in new-home customer satisfaction in Orange County by J.D. Power & Associates for the past two years. His extensive experience in the homebuilding industry spans more than 25 years and includes the management of homebuilding operations in Nevada and California. Previously, he was a city planner with several Southern California cities.

Kabel earned his Bachelor Science degree from the California Polytechnic University, Pomona, and his Master’s degree from the University of Southern California. He resides in Anaheim Hills with his wife and their three daughters.

Spanning 14 years and two states, Prolo’s career with John Laing Homes has included the management of development and construction activities of more than 4,000 homes. Most recently, he had been leading the day-to-day operations of John Laing’s San Diego division. In his previous role as Senior Vice President of the South Coast division, his responsibilities included forward planning, project management, land development, product design, purchasing, construction and customer care.  Before joining the South Coast division in 2003, he was division president of John Laing’s Utah division.

Prolo is a graduate of Brigham Young University, and member of the Sigma Lambda Chi, National Construction Honor Society. A native of San Jose, California where both his grandfathers were general contractors, he currently resides with his wife and three children in San Clemente, California.
