PHOENIX, Ariz. – Newport Beach-based John Laing Homes, which entered the Phoenix market last April, announced the company has broken ground on its first two neighborhoods, Morada and Sereno, at the master planned community Palm Valley in Goodyear, Ariz.

The model homes at Morada and Sereno are expected to open in May. Together, the two neighborhoods will include 136 detached homes with each neighborhood offering four different floor plans, including one- and two-story options. Homes in Morada will range from 2,200-to-3,500 square-feet on 9,100 square-foot lots, while Sereno features homes from 2,800-to-4,000 square-feet on 10,800 square-foot lots.  Pricing for the neighborhoods has not bee established but will be favorably competitive with surrounding communities.

“Morada and Sereno will offer distinct architectural designs inspired by historic Phoenix neighborhoods and will demonstrate the award-winning quality and service expected of John Laing Homes,” said David Walls, John Laing Homes’ Phoenix division president. “We’re excited to show Phoenix homebuyers what we do best, build beautiful homes.”

To prepare for the division’s next phase of growth, John Laing Homes continues to add experienced leaders to its team. The company recently hired John Shores as vice president of operations and Ken Taft as senior site manager. Both Shores and Taft relocated from the John Laing Homes Central Valley division in Modesto, Calif., where their leadership helped the division earn a #1 ranking from independent consumer research firm Eliant for construction experience and home readiness for a medium volume builder.

“Their expertise building and managing teams to deliver the John Laing Homes’ experience gives us a strong foundation for growth in the market,” said Walls.

Shores brings more than 30 years experience in homebuilding to the Phoenix team.  As vice president of operations, he will be responsible for purchasing, construction and customer care for the division. Taft’s role will be to oversee construction management and ensure John Laing standards for quality and on-time delivery are met at the community level.
